Do you have the guts, strength and fortitude for the toughest job out there? This job doesn't get paid because they can't pay us enough to do it. If you love to work hard, be a part of select team and enjoy getting your satisfaction by giving back to your community, then maybe you can be a Wildland Firefighter on one of the best crews out there. The El Paso County Wildland Fire Crew provides engine crews and Type II hand crews for all ranges of wildland fire suppression from initial attack to mop-up, prescribed burns, and urban interface protection. This crew has successfully fought hundreds of wildland fires in our county and surrounding areas from small lightning strikes to full blown wildland fires like the Haymen fire of 2002. To be eligible to join, you must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen and have no felony arrests or convictions. You must also have a valid Colorado drivers license, a high school diploma or a GED and you must be in very good physical condition. Applicants must pass a background check, an oral interview, 7-day/evening wildland fire academy and Arduous physical fitness test. Some equipment purchases may be required for fire response. No previous experience is required. This opportunity is sponsored by: El Paso County Wildland Fire Crew
