Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on December 17, 2008 |
The Challenger Learning Center of Colorado (CLCC) is looking for several consistent volunteers to help meet various administrative and operational needs for space mission simulation programs for K-12 students. Activities may include: • reception: greeting arriving customer groups (e.g., teachers, parents and classes of students), “crowd control,” answering phones, directing calls, giving driving directions to CLCC, etc. • cleaning: quick-turnaround resetting and readiness (wipe-downs and changeover of program materials) and/or vacuuming of simulators and conference room • materials preparation: cutting, folding, counting, compiling, etc. • computer operation: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc. • assisting in operation of retail gift shop.
Volunteers should be at least 18 years old and should have and be comfortable with basic communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills are helpful but not necessary. Positions are not guaranteed. We will interview several people for a handful of positions. Because we are working with children, all interested applicants go through an interview process, and selected candidates undergo background checks that may require fingerprinting and various source and agency checks. All tools and equipment will be supplied: desktop computer, drawing and cutting implements, and cleaning supplies. CLCC is located on property owned and controlled by Colorado Springs Academy School District 20. Neither alcohol nor tobacco is permitted on District property. A dress and appearance code applies, possibly including a CLCC-provided jacket. Work times are negotiable, but our normal open hours are weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
