The BAC is dedicated to the arts education and cultural enrichment of the Pikes Peak Region and to creating an environment in which artists and arts organizations grow and thrive.
Description:
The BAC's mission is accomplished through: STUDIO ARTIST PROGRAM This program provides professionally equipped, low cost, shared space in a creative environment. A comprehensive business program taught by professionals improves artists’ career skills. BAC GALLERIES The BAC offers six galleries and a gift shop that provide exposure for local and regional artists. Hagnauer Gallery features exhibitions with a variety of media. Many exhibitions are presented in collaboration with other arts organizations like Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration, Pikes Peak Arts Council, Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, Circle of Confusion Photography Group, Pikes Peak Pastel Society and area high schools. Scheduled exhibitions are generally open for six to eight weeks. The Avenue Gallery features one or two local artists. Scheduled exhibitions are generally open for six to eight weeks. The Espresso With Art, Grand Hallway and Spencer Hall galleries are located in Venue 515 and feature scheduled artists and art organizations. Scheduled exhibitions are generally open for six to eight weeks. The Atrium Gallery is a members only gallery that features work from BAC Associate Artist Members. Artwork is submitted and rotated bi - monthly. THE BAC AS AN EDUCATION CAMPUS The BAC offers classes, workshops and seminars by Studio Artists as well as local regional artists. The BAC also provides an environment where the public can experience a full range of the arts and learn about creative process through the open studios, exhibitions, lectures and classes. NON-PROFIT INCUBATOR The BAC supports small, emerging non-profit organizations by providing office space, the amenities of a multi-purpose campus, a computer lab, and coaching to assist in the organization’s development. Current Incubator Participants include IT!, Concrete Couch, Performing Arts Youth Organization (PAYO), Pikes Peak Blues Community, FutureSelf, and Manitou Art Theater (MAT). AFFILIATE ART ORGANZITION MEMBERS To stimulate the arts community and offer a variety of services and activities, the BAC also has membership opportunities for art and education organizations. THE BAC AS A COMMUNITY CENTER The BAC proudly serves Manitou Springs and the Pikes Peak region as a cultural community center with receptions, concerts, gallery talks, and private events.
History:
From its inception in 1988, the BAC has provided an environment where emerging artists can grow and thrive. By providing shared studio space and equipment, exhibition space, workshops and business classes, artists are able to focus on the development of their art as a career. The BAC campus is comprised of two landmark buildings. Studio 513 is home to three exhibition spaces, a gallery gift shop, office space, and professionally equipped studios including Printmaking, Mixed Media, Graphics, Photography, Fiber, Painting, Sculpture, Woodworking, and Ceramics complete with a kiln yard. Venue 515 offers a computer lab, classroom/meeting space,office space and Spencer Hall,a 2,500 square foot venue for theater performances, concerts, receptions and special events. Additionally, there is a pocket history museum and incubator office space for 10 non-profit arts organizations.
