Community Partnership for Child Development/Head Start
The mission of Community Partnership for Child Development is to prepare children for success in school and life by providing excellent comprehensive early childhood services in partnership with diverse families and the community.
Description:
CPCD administers the Head Start and Early Head Start programs for El Paso County, as well as offers other preschool and family programs. Most of the families CPCD serves are financially disadvantaged or have children who have special needs or are considered to be at-risk. Classrooms are located in elementary schools, child care centers, and family childcare homes throughout El Paso County.
History:
Founded in 1987, CPCD was spun-off from Catholic Charities specifically to administer the Head Start program, which had been under the umbrella of Catholic Charities since 1978. Head Start has been in our community since 1965.
