The Center for Nonprofit Excellence promotes the effectiveness of the nonprofit sector through leadership and resource development, advocacy and collaboration.

In Colorado Springs and the surrounding community, over 1,800 nonprofits work day-to-day to better the quality of life, not only for individuals, but for the community as a whole. Human services, education, youth development, arts, environment, animal protection - each of these critical areas represent the overall health of our community. The Center endeavors to provide each the support and resources they need to flourish. Principal Programs
- Training - Low-cost, high-quality training relevant to the nonprofit sector. We continue to offer basic training:Board Roles & Responsibilities, Grantwriting workshops, and the Mini MBA Institute.
- Technical Assistance - CNE provides fee-based, one-on-one technical assistance and consulting services to organizations.
- Member Services - CNE provides networking opportunities through CEO roundtables, and CFO Connection. Our website and e-newsletters offer members opportunities to share information such as events and employment or board openings.
- The Volunteer Center (www.volunteerpikespeak.org)allows nonprofits to list their community volunteer opportunities and provides a resource to track volunteer hours as well as means to match up potential volunteers with opportunities.
Events are important to the nonprofit sector for advocating the importance of nonprofits and celebrating our successes. Nonprofit Day in March and Volunteer Day in May are key events witin our community to provide education, support and recognition to nonprofits and those who support their work.
History:
Since 1991, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence has been serving the Southern Colorado nonprofit community with distinction. With over 200 members, the Center provides training and education services, technical assistance, and ongoing networking and partnering opportunities that connect nonprofits with the region's funding and business communities. In 1997, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (then dba as the Chamber Nonprofit Partnership) received the prestigious El Pomar Foundation Award for Excellence for Special Projects. The Center's wide range of products and services are tailored to meet the needs of a varied nonprofit sector, serving the small grassroots organization in tandem with the large international organizations.
