Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center is a privately owned business operated with the purpose of supporting and preserving the Garden of the Gods Park.

Description:
Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center is focused on providing revenue to protect and enhance the Garden of the Gods Park which is 2 square miles of beautiful scenery with 2 million visitors each year AND with no admission charge. To curtail erosion, to educate visitors about the history, ecology and geology of this 300 million year old 'rock garden,' the Visitor Center functions as a gateway to the Park, offering a 14-minute movie about the Garden, offering hospitality of free maps and information, bathrooms and cafe, shops and exhibits to instruct visitors about this delicate and unique City park.

History:
The Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center opened in May of 1995, after a master plan for Garden of the Gods specified that no "human" influences be retained in the Park itself. At that time, 100 volunteers were trained to offer hospitality to guests, both tourist and local community. Most spend a 4-hour shift, handing out maps, running the movie, offering a nature program, giving directions and recommendations about other city attractions, as well as leading guided walks in our beautiful Park.
