New Vue Productions, Inc
New Vue Productions, Inc is an educational, mentoring non-profit corporation that works and collaborates with the community to develop, motivate, and encourage teenagers and young adults in the creation of multi-media productions and events based on the interests, views, and visions of the youth of our community.
Description:
In support of our mission, we've defined and developed several events, including the Media Fest/Camp, the Improv Fest, and Community Forums.
We are also developing a TV News show as a community news magazine, covering a wide variety of local, national, and international subjects. Our focus is on stories written, produced, and reported by teens and young adults, under the supervision and guidance of adult staff mentors.
The purpose of the Media Fest/Camp is to bring teens together to envision and then create music, video, and art projects collaboratively, under the supervision and tutelage of professionals in these fields. These projects will then be displayed to the public during the final weekend of the event.
This event is at the heart of our purpose as it mentors and educates teens in the creation of multi-media projects based on their interests, then provides a venue for them to display and discuss their work with each other and with the public.
The purpose of the Improv Fest is to bring teens together in a fun and creative atmosphere that helps develop their self-esteem and mentoring skills. These teens will then be a source of talent for other New Vue events and projects. This ongoing relationship with interested teens allows New Vue to continue to mentor and educate them in the creative process and the production of their creative work.
Our Community Forums are a group activity in which a panel of teens, children, families, and businesses discuss a specific topic. These forums are intergenerational, multi-cultural, and inter-gender, and take a multi-media approach. Audience participation is encouraged. The focus of the discussions will be on the positive aspects of teen life and teen contributions to the community.
History:
After working for numerous non-profits focused on youth in the community, I began to use a camera to capture the messages the youth were trying to get out. This evolved into a multi-media effort to show the community what is going on in the minds and lives of our children, and all the things that affect them--from television, to the movies, to the internet, to video war games, and real war. What are they thinking? What are their problems, their fears, their hopes, their joys? All of this I am looking to bring to the forefront.
The camera became the focal point, allowing the children to get their truth out, and I could become the producer, not the critic, behind the scenes, and the children could be the main focus. They WANT to be heard, they have stories to be told, and this medium is one way of doing it. Some of the young people with whom I am involved are now working on their own television news show, so that they will have a voice that can, indeed, be heard.
We seek to find the best, most ethical ways of presenting the views and information, thereby fostering a dialogue that is intergenerational, multi-cultural, inter-gender, and truth telling.
