Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation is dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

Description:
When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, the day-to-day joys of childhood take a back seat to the rigors of treatment and hospitalization.

Starlight Colorado has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for children with serious medical conditions by providing entertainment, education and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness.

We understand what families go through when a child is sick, and how important it is to find relief from worry and isolation. Our programs have been proven to distract children from their pain, help them better understand and manage their illnesses, and connect families with others facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone.

With offices in Denver and Colorado Springs, Starlight Colorado provides ongoing support to children, parents and siblings throughout the state. Internationally, Starlight’s programs are delivered through a network of more than 30 offices in the U.S. and Canada, as well as affiliates in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom. Starlight uniquely offers a comprehensive menu of outpatient, hospital-based and Web offerings which enable us to provide ongoing support for children and families — before, during and after medical treatment.

History:
STARLIGHT Children's Foundation originally founded in 1983 by Peter Samuelson, dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families and the STARBRIGHT Foundation, founded in 1990 by Peter Samuelson and Steven Spielberg, was dedicated to the development of media and technology-driven, research based projects that empower seriously ill children to better manage their disease, and cope with the social and emotional challenges that accompany illness merged in 2004 to synergize the efforts of both organizations outreach to seriously ill children. The Colorado Chapter was established in 1995.
