America's Family is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization focused on assisting hardworking low-income individuals and their families with programs such as:
-We take donated cars and put them in the hands of people who need reliable transportation to get to work, to school, to the doctor, and to financial service institutions.
-We guarantee loans to help a client deal with an immediate crises (keeping them away from predatory lenders)
-We provide counseling with a unique program designed to identify and map a realistic path for the client to achieve his or her dream.
-We connect people to existing programs and resources designed as a safety net, but which are currently underutilized.
-We work with employers and provide business smart solutions
History:
Steve Bigari, CEO and founder of America's Family, spent 19 years building a very successful business as a McDonald's franchise owner. Every day he worked with his employees to confront the obstacles holding them back from career success and financial security. Parents without adequate childcare, crew members without transportation, and workers without financial skills to manage their household accounts all wanted to get ahead, but couldn't. Even a small crisis or unexpected expense was enough to rob them of stability. Over those 19 years, Steve loaned over $500,000 to solve a wide variety of problems that threatened the security of his employees and the success of his business. During that time, he learned some things about what does and doesn't work when it comes to helping people. In June 2006, Steve sold all of his McDonald's stores to devote his time and resources helping people just like some of his former employees who go to work every day, do everything right, and come home at night to poverty. America's Family has been in existence for over five years.
